Motor Neurone Disease (MND) Appeal > Winters
Last year our dear friend Jon Charman (known as Gnu / Swimmy) took part in a 300km charity bike ride from London to Paris as a
way of raising money for Motor Neurone Disease Association, a disease that his Dad was recently diagnosed with.
To help raise money
for this worthy cause, Hope Of The States very kindly donated the unreleased and unheard song Winters. It was agreed that sponsorship
of Jon, via this website, would be rewarded by a download of the full song. It's a beautiful piece and the fact it's now associated
with this good cause is fantastic.
The appeal appeared in the media. Both NME and The Guardian ran short stories highlighting this,
and links appeared on many websites. Currently, I have over 200 receipts of donations made to Jon.
Zack Tollman, the chief designer
here at the Home, also donated his Black Dollar Bills single (click here for full story). This was signed by the band and auctioned
on eBay – it raised £175!
Jon eventually raised a fantastic a total of £2000 for his efforts, through personal sponsorship and
Hope of the States related fundraising (Zack's signed Black Dollar Bills included) - a brilliant achievement.
Although Jon has now finished his cycle ride, the Winters MND Appeal is still running. Your donation will be kept in
the winters@thehalfwayhome.com PayPal account and given to the MNDA when the total reaches a nice round figure. Click below image to donate and download.
